Walking the dog keeps owners healthy and the neighborhood safe

An international study has found that dog walkers are physically active on several days of the week and that walking the dog can help people feel safer around them. More than 1,000 dog owners were surveyed in the study. The study found that people who walk their dogs have at least 30 minutes of physical activity on several days per week than people who do not walk the dog, and it helps them meet the recommended physical activity level of at least 150 minutes per week. . The study also points to wider community benefits. Nearly 60 percent of dog walkers reported feeling safer walking their dog and women felt safer than men.
