Safety tips for your dog during the holidays

During the hectic time of the holidays, everyone can get a little stressed. This does not only apply to us, but also our dog can experience anxiety and stress due to noise. During this period, there are many noise triggers such as the doorbell, noisy family gatherings, children playing with loud toys or the fireworks. Signs that your dog can't stand the noise include:panting, trembling or shaking, walking at a walking pace or restlessness, hiding, searching for the owner, cowering, refusing to eat, excessive wakefulness or extra alertness, and escaping behavior. So make sure your beloved pet stays as fear-free as possible with the tips below.

1. Make sure your dog gets a lot of exercise earlier in the day.

2. Provide a safe place for the dog to retreat to.

3. Keep your dog indoors during the fireworks, preferably with people.

4. If possible, keep the windows and curtains closed.

5. Play fun games with the dog.

6. Reassure your dog regularly.
